My son is very picky as far as things that go over his head. He hates wearing hats and bike helmets. This was comfortable that he did not complain and try to take it off. It has vents that can be opened to provide some air on sunny days and closed when it’s cold and windy. It is a great price at $40, which does not break the bank for Smith helmets. Although he didn’t run into trees or have major impacts to the helmet, it seems solid and well built. The finish has stood up to the wear and tear of him tossing it on the table, carpet and laminate floor after use. It has been used about one and a half seasons and doesn’t show obvious scratches. I have to get really close to it to inspect in order to see minor scratches. I would recommend this helmet as a parent of a kid who is not aware of caring for his equipment.
