This paddle set comes with a typical bag, a standard paddle eraser, and 4 balls that are the correct size and weight (which is sadly uncommon for sets like this.)Measuring these paddles (“high quality pickleball oars”?!?) I found them to be nearly identical to the Sukeen Intermediate 520: 8.90/9.04 oz., 16.2 mm gritty face, 16 3/8″ by 7 1/2″ with a 5″ long handle. The firm ridged grip measures 4 5/8″ around with a squarish profile. It has a large, forgiving sweet spot and produces soft ball noise.I’m always suspicious of pickleball paddles when the video in the listing shows people doing overhand serves on a tennis court and playing with a paddle in each hand… I guess their target audience is people who don’t know enough about pickleball to be troubled by such things. It’s bad enough that many listings photoshop their paddle at weird sizes onto stock photos of tennis players, but this video is nuts. The listing mentions Fiberglass, Graphite, and Carbon Friction Surface (CFS), but as far as I can tell this is a typical fiberglass paddle with a surface texture applied. CFS doesn’t really mean anything anyway, and I doubt there is any carbon/graphite in the paddle at all, but it has plenty of texture (probably more than USAPA would allow, but I don’t have equipment to measure that.)I compared the Sukeen 1540 (this paddle) to the nearly identical Sukeen Intermediate 520 and to the slightly thinner (13 mm) Sukeen Power Blue. The 1540 is my favorite among them. It has good power, great control, and great spin. (The Power has great power, good control, and great spin.) The difference between the 1540 and the 520 seems to be swing weight. I don’t have a machine to measure this, but my shoulder thinks the 1540 is lighter than the 520, even though the scale says they are the same. The Power is also a great paddle, but it doesn’t suit my style as well. In any case, these are great paddles for their price range.Unfortunately, none of the Sukeen paddles are USAPA approved, which means you can’t use them in sanctioned tournaments. It’s easy to check the approved paddles list on the USAPA website.

I’m far from a Pickleball expert and had only played once at a friend’s house before ordering this set.I used to play tennis when I was younger and I can tell a high-quality tennis racket from a cheap one, and these paddles seem to be of very good quality. The paddles my friend had just felt cheap and didn’t have a graphite surface or decent edge guard, either. The grip on these paddles is wrapped nicely, well cushioned, and is very comfortable. The included bag is of good quality and will provide some protection for your paddles when not in use. These paddles also have a nice graphic design and tough edge guards for protection. You can find less expensive paddles, but the old saying, “you get what you pay for” always applies.
