They should hold up really well. Trimming may be difficult with the thickness and stiffness but if you have the right tool it should work well for your use case.For $14 (at time of writing) there does seem to be cheaper options.

   This volume reducer was exactly what I needed for my ski boots. The sizes listed in inches are difficult to understand so make sure you measure before hand. I ordered the XL “12 inch” for my size 28 boot and only had to trim about a 1/4”.

   I have a pair of Khombu snow boots I love because they keep my feet warm and dry in winter. I wear them regularly every winter. I have narrow feet so have always had to wear an additional pair of thick socks in order for them to fit me properly. I’ve tried other foam-type inserts but nothing worked quite right and those would come out with your foot or get wadded up or something.I decided, based on the description, to try these ski boot inserts. They are specifically for creating a better fit and not for any other orthopedic purpose. Turns out, they worked GREAT!When you first handle them, they feel like hard pieces of board! They are slightly flexible, too, however.I took the fuzzy bottom inserts out of my boots, placed them onto the hard inserts and traced around them with a pencil. Then I used a pair of big, sharp scissors to cut them out. It’s like cutting REALLY thick cardboard, actually.Then I glued my fuzzy inserts to the hard insets with standard white glue. I let them set for 24 hours, then put them down into the boots. VIOLA! They work GREAT!Inexpensive solution for a problem I’ve had since I got the boots.Very happy and you can’t beat the price.

   These work really well for Blume reduction. Have used them under the liner and inside the liner under the insole.

   I on’t ski, but I do spend a lot of time outdoors. Boot sizes can be tricky. One company’s 10 is another’s 9.5 and another brands 11. Consistent it is not in my experience.I had one set of unneeded shims that came with a boot purchase, and had put them to good use on a different pair. There’s not much fixing to do with a pir of too-small boots, but fillers like footpads, or shims like this address the too big.These shims seem a bit stiffer than the other, but so far I think they’re working fine. I put them under the boots original pad, an the resulting comfort is pretty close to what it was, but the boot doesn’t flex quite as easily. I’m chalking that up to being new and not yet broken in. After a couple of miles they should do better.It’s a bit difficult to find shims, which is surprising, so I’m glad I came across these. I do believe the Covey Sports are going to be a good product for me. From now on instead of gambling a pair may be a tad tight I’ll go up a half-size if in doubt. The shims will fill a half-size.
