Adds a lot of grip if you hold your paddle loosely like I do. I put it on the bare handle then over-wrap it with grip tape. It’s kind of hard to slide on but once you get the handle lubed up, it goes on ok.

If you’ve got bigger hands then you’ve probably noticed that your fingers tend to wrap around your pickleball paddle handle and mess up your grip. You could head in for finger reduction surgery – which would probably cost a lot of money, not to mention the pain involved with recovery – or you could think about increasing the diameter of your pickleball paddle handle (which is far less expensive and painful). This over-grip sleeve is a great option for increasing the diameter of your handle and adding a bit more shock absorption to help prevent early onset arthritis.Getting this sleeve on is the hardest part but, fear not. I have tread this path before you and have some life saving steps to keep you off the edge of the cliff.First, take off the elastic band at the top of your grip tape. This can be done by carefully sliding it down to the butt of the handle. Then remove the strip of black tape that was under the elastic band. Next, carefully remove your current handle tape. If you’re particularly fond of it you can reuse it. Most handle wraps have an adhesive strip on the back to keep them in place. If the adhesive sticks to the handle just leave it. Trying to remove it can be a real pain. Pay very close attention to how the ends of the wrap tape are cut because you’ll need to follow that cut direction on the reapplication. Now you’re ready to install your new grip. Get yourself some hand sanitizer and slather it all over the handle. Then dry your mitts so they’re completely dry. Now, you’ll want to take the narrow end of the grip and force it over the butt end of your handle – this is the hardest part because it’s going to be slippery and the fit is very tight. I kept a hand towel close by to dry my hands with. To apply the grip I started on one side, got it on, then twisted the grip around and pushed down hard. I kept moving it back and forth and around until it was entirely over the butt end of the handle. Once you get that done it’s just a matter of pulling the new grip towards the face of the paddle – and it should slide on without any issues. Now, you may be thinking that the instructions say to use hand cream. There are a couple problems with that. First, it’s crazy hard to get off your hands and makes them slick as snot on a doorknob. Second, alcohol evaporates quickly which means your new grip won’t slide around after you get it on. Hand cream will not evaporate so quickly so things could get a little slippery while you’re playing. After you’re done installing you can add grip tape, or just play it the way it is. I’d encourage adding grip tape because silicone doesn’t do such a good job absorbing sweat.
