   The OLANNY PRO TREND Pickleball Paddle presents a bit of a conundrum. This well constructed 16mm fiberglass paddle performs very well, better than the majority of fiberglass paddles, but is priced similar to lower cost raw carbon paddles. Actually, the OLANNY PRO TREND performs more similar to the many mid-priced carbon-fiber paddles than to its fiberglass counterparts… but it is still fiberglass.There are many grades of fiberglass, graphite-carbon-fiber (a material blend of fiberglass, graphite, and carbon), and carbon fiber. There are paddle sets in the $30 range that claim to be carbon fiber, have printed surfaces, and weigh and perform just like similarly priced entry level fiberglass paddles. There are raw carbon paddles that use thin, lower quality carbon materials and others using higher end ballistic type carbon. The OLANNY PRO TREND performs comparable to a fair number of good quality, lower priced raw carbon paddles ranging from $50-$80 but at 8.6oz, weighs a bit more. Reasonable quality carbon fiber typically has a better cycle life than fiberglass (holds its integrity and performance longer through repeated use) and also contributed slightly to shock absorption.OLANNY uses a carbon friction coating on the PRO TREND giving it more grip on the ball than most fiberglass and carbon-graphite paddles. The coating appears durable. I can easily spin a ball with the PRO TREND but it does have less ball grip than my higher-mid- priced carbon paddles.To summarize, the OLANNY PRO TREND 16mm fiberglass paddle with carbon friction surface is a very well made and finished paddle. The 5″ long, 4.5″ circumference handle is comfortably wrapped but may feel too big for those with small hands. The extended paddle shape (my favorite) offers more reach than shorter/wider designs. Paddle weight is well balanced and feels good in hand. While I like slightly heavier paddles like the OLANNY, others may find it a bit too heavy. Paddle performance is well balanced providing a good mix of both power and control, and the 16mm construction helps to reduce shock and dampen vibration during play. As mentioned earlier, the carbon friction coating of the PRO TREND also provides a reasonable amount of ball grip and spin. I would rate this as a beginner through advanced-intermediate paddle. I appreciate that OLANNY also provided a nice quality zippered neoprene cover to protect the paddle’s playing surface.I really like the OLANNY PRO TREND paddle and do recommend it. There are similarly performing good grade carbon paddles at this price as well though. I want to give the OLANNY PRO TREND 5 stars (which I would absolutely give it if the paddle sold for $15 less) but I am only going to give it 4 stars because of the price and the fact that it is a fiberglass paddle.

   I took up pickleball not too long ago and to get started, I just bought a low cost introductory kit with a pair of paddles so I could play with the family. That worked great to learn the game, but now with some familiarity, I can say this racket is a very nice step up in quality and performance.The first thing I noticed is that the racket is light weight and easy to use. It makes a difference to have less weight when the points get moving really fast and I found this racket very comfortable in those situations. The next thing I noticed is the handle, which has a texture to it. Honestly, it took just a couple minutes to get used to and then it seemed to help quite a bit with control. I’m a pretty big guy with relatively large hands. The handle felt comfortable and well sized. I also found that I had very good control over shots with this racket. I was able to control both serves and returns with decent precision – velocity, height, spin, etc. There are probably better hitting surfaces for people with really good spin games, but overall the quality, comfort and control this racket gave me felt like a very good middle ground between introductory rackets and those that have true high end price tags on them.

   I am a begginer this paddle will allow me to figure out if I like this game or not. Playing with I’m happy.
